Episode 27: DF4Q with Chris Fiore

I thought Chris was going to be the first documentarian to answer the DF4Q, but in his podcast interview I found out that he’s an award winning screenwriter and fine artist as well as a documentary filmmaker.  Basically, Chris is an artist.  No wonder his DF4Q is such a good listen.

Episode 26: Chris Fiore

Chris Fiore directed and produced the documentary short Goodwoman, which won a Grand Jury Prize at Film Invasion L.A. in 2016.  I wanted to know how he had the tools to make such a great film.  The truth is that it is often hard to fill the documentary categories at a film festival, because precious few combine a worthy subject with quality filmmaking.

You should watch Goodwoman right now, because it is a GREAT documentary.  Then you should listen to the podcast and find out how a fine artist turned into a filmmaking pro.

Episode 25: DF4Q with Todd Wiseman Jr.

Based on his film Army of God, I had a feeling Todd was going to have excellent taste in films.  He didn’t let me down.  In fact, his pick for favorite movie of all time is a film that challenges to make my top three whenever I think about it.  And make sure to check out Todd’s film Army of God.

Episode 24: Todd Wiseman Jr.

Todd Wiseman Jr. is a very busy guy.  I first saw his film Army of God when the jury selected it to screen at Film Invasion L.A. in 2016.  He couldn’t come out from NYC for the festival, so I didn’t really “meet” him until we got on the phone for this podcast interview.  It turns out that in addition to being a very talented filmmaker, he’s a principal behind Man With A Cam and Hayden 5 Media.

As interesting as this other work is, I wanted to focus on Army of God because it is one of the few films I’ve seen on the festival circuit that combined extremely courageous storytelling with extremely professional filmmaking.

And, let me say this in advance… regardless of your politics, this film represents a valid, intelligent perspective in a compelling way.  That is what filmmaking is about!

Be sure to also listen to Todd’s DF4Q in the next Discover Film podcast.
