SOFF is an Award Winning Festival

SOFF has been giving awards to filmmakers for the last few years, but last week we were delighted to be on the other side and win an award.

The Sherman Oaks Chamber of Commerce held a vote and the winner of the the Golden Oaks Award for “Ground Breaker” was the Sherman Oaks Film Festival!  Besides a nifty plaque, we got Certificates of Recognition from the City of Los Angeles, County of Los Angeles, California State Assembly, and our congressman from the U.S. House of Representatives.

Festival programmer Jeff Howard went to accept the award.

Tech Project

My hosting plan was so old…. how old was it? Over a decade, so I have to migrate all of my websites to a new hosting plan so that I can use the latest version of PhP.

I’m just typing this to test if I can still upgrade this site after migrating.

Dig it?

Episode 67: Aletha Shepherd

Aletha Shepherd (on left) and friend at the Sherman Oaks Film Festival in 2016.

One of my favorite films at the Sherman Oaks Film Festival in 2016 was Safe Bet, a beautifully made film about a memorable evening in a young woman’s life.  Safe Bet was the brainchild of Aletha Shepherd, a Londoner living in Los Angeles who’s one of those people that never seems to stop working.

Aletha moved back to London and it took us a long time to coordinate when we could chat, but we worked it out.  And I’m glad we did!  Besides the fact that I want you all to see Safe Bet, it was great to learn more about Aletha and to hear what she was brewing.

As always… watch the film!  It is available on Amazon Prime right now.  To watch it, CLICK HERE or search for Safe Bet however you get to Amazon Prime.
