217. Diliana Deltcheva “Sweetheart”

Diliana Deltcheva Zoomed in for her DIF interview

Diliana Deltcheva brought her short film “Sweetheart” to the Sherman Oaks Film Festival in 2019 and her lead actor Gina Vitori took home the award for “Outstanding Lead Acting, Individual.”  I don’t have to tell you that an actor doesn’t take home an award if the writer/director didn’t do a great job.  “Sweetheart” is a thought provoking film and, personally, I could talk about the nuances it deals with for hours.  You can watch this great film on the Discover Indie Film TV Series on Amazon Prime Video!  Just go to season 3, episode 5.

Diliana hopped onto Zoom for her DIF interview.  Hope you enjoy!

215. Luisa Novo, Denise Szabo & Vanessa Sandre “O Mundo Aqui Dentro (The World Inside)”

Denise Szabo, Vanessa Sandre & Luisa Novo on Zoom, each in a different country!

Writer, director and producer Luisa Novo is back on the podcast!   She came in to talk about her film “Becoming Lucy” that played at Film Invasion Los Angeles back in 2017 and this time she brought along collaborators Denise Szabo & Vanessa Sandre to discuss her follow-up film “O Mundo Aqui Dentro (The World Inside).”    You can watch this incredible film on the Discover Indie Film TV Series on Amazon Prime Video!  Just go to season 4, episode 8.

This was a special podcast in many ways, not the least of which is that Luisa and I were in Los Angeles, Vanessa Sandre was in Canada, and Denise Szabo was in Brazil.  Talk about an international interview!

All three of these filmmakers are so talented and intelligent, this is truly one of the gems in the Discover Indie Film feed.  Enjoy it and WATCH THEIR FILM!

214. 4Qs with Corey Schmalzle & Chris McElroy

Corey and Chris having a little fun on Zoom

What are the 4Q’s?

  • Name your favorite films of all time (limit 3)
  • Name a film you think is underrated
  • Name a film you think is overrated
  • Name a lesser-known film that you think people should seek out

Corey Schmalzle & Chris McElroy hopped onto Zoom for a DIF interview, so of course I had them both answer the four questions.  This duo is responsible for two feature films that have been Official Selections at Film Invasion Los Angeles;  “Ghostland Boys” in 2016 and “American SciFi” in 2020.  These two represent one of my favorite aspects of filmmaking; die-hard creatives who take on the challenge of making feature films with near zero budgets.  They throw their creativity and ingenuity at the challenge.  True indie filmmaking.

Like every DIF interview so of course I also had to get him to answer the 4Qs!
