Joey 西侧龙 created the music video “A Beautiful Escape” and at the 2023 edition of Film Invasion Los Angeles received two awards; Outstanding Music Video and Outstanding Performance – Music Video for his lead performer Hayley Wen.  An American living in China, Joey brought an incredibly unique and interesting perspective to this podcast.  I found this to be one of the most fascinating interviews so far!  And, yes, I did a map search while were talking and realized that the person whose face on Zoom looked nearby was actually sitting near the North Korean border.

Check out Joey’s work at his YouTube Channel.

After this interview I got so see more of Andrew’s work and you should definitely check it out.  In fact, I can’t get the Wong he wrote for his comedy music video “Gettin’ Horizontal” out of my head!

Darren Coyle’s second appearance on the DIF Podcast comes after his short film “Operation: Payback” screened at the 2022 Sherman Oaks Film Festival.  His first came after his feature film “Chasing Sunshine” screened at the Sherman Oaks Film Festival in 2018.  It was great to catch up with Darren and hear how well he’s been doing, both with his day job in television production and his devotion to creating his own original work.  Plus he’s a very dedicated writer!  As Darren points out, don’t snooze on joining a writers’ group!

But there’s more!  In fact, if you go to darrencoyle.com you can see his earlier shorts “Ding Dong” and “Downward Dog” as well as the two films mentioned above.  Darren’s comedies are always original and fun!  Can you have too much fun?  I think not.  Visit his website and Enjoy!

Oh yeah… if you’re still reading this then I must share a disclaimer.  The damn drive on my laptop maxed out of space and I lost the last 10 minutes of this podcast.  Ugh!  As soon as I found out I spent a hundred bucks on a bigger SSD and that will Never happen again.  Sorry Darren!

What are the 4Qs?  (1) Three favorite films. (2) An underrated film. (3) An overrated film. (4) A lesser-known film people should seek out.

Filmmaker Chris Browne cam into DIF HQ to discuss his award winning short film “Pleroma” and of course I had him answer the 4Qs above while he was here.  (Great list, by the way!)

You have to wait a little while to see “Pleroma,” but if you want to be very cool then you should come its premiere at Screamfest in October of 2023.  I’m gonna do my best to be there!

Learn more about Chris AND see the “Pleroma” trailer at chrisbrownedigital.com. And if you want to reach out to him, Chris suggests his LInkedIn profile.
